Terms and Conditions

My approach to tutoring is centred on delivering the highest quality, personalised teaching that considers the academic needs and personal development of each student. I endeavour to support and guide to the best of my ability. In return, I expect all my students to be fully engaged with their studies and always do the best they can during tutoring lessons and in school.

Having worked with hundreds of students and conducted thousands of lessons, a consistent trend has emerged: students who put in genuine effort, regardless of their natural abilities, typically out-perform expectations. In contrast, those who rely on last-minute preparation or natural intelligence alone often fall short of their potential.

Tutoring can be an extremely effective tool if used correctly, but it should never replace hard work or initiative and a student’s progress ultimately depends on their own commitment to learning. The following terms and conditions are based on this understanding.

1) Unless otherwise discussed, tutoring will be conducted for an agreed upon time period, usually up until the end of year exams. However, both parties always have the right to cancel further tutoring at any point for any reason.

2) The standard lesson charge is £65 for 1 hour. Shorter or longer lessons can be offered on a pro-rata basis. This can be discussed prior to commencing tutoring.

3) Payment is after each lesson and must be made within 7 days of lesson taking place.

4) It is the tutee’s responsibility to arrive for the lesson at the agreed upon time. Lessons can not be extended past the allotted time for lateness.

5) I pride myself on reliability. However, in the unlikely event I need to delay or cancel a lesson, I endeavour to give as much notice as possible. For cancelled lessons, I will offer to reschedule the lesson if a mutually suitable time can be agreed.

6) If you would like to cancel or rearrange a lesson at least 24 hours notice needs to be given. Cancellations less than 24 hours before scheduled lesson and no-shows are charged at full rate.

7) If the student is late to the lesson, a reminder message will be sent after 10 minutes. If after 15 minutes, no response is received then that lesson will be deemed cancelled.

8) In order for the tutoring to be effective, consistency is key. The expectation is the student will attend a weekly tutoring session unless they are ill or are away on holiday. A minimum attendance rate of 90% during term time is expected. If a student falls below this, the benefit of tutoring starts to diminish. If a student misses too many lessons then an intervention will be recommended to rectify this. If no suitable solution can be found then I reserve the right to discontinue the tutoring.

9) These terms and conditions are always valid. Any leniency shown to the above terms at any time does not invalidate these terms.

By commencing tutoring, the tutee agrees to be bound by these conditions.
